Dr Stella Nugent
I have been registered as a qualified Psychologist since October 2016 after completing a professional doctorate in Psychology. Initially I worked with a forensic population but since 2018 I have worked with people with a variety of mental disorders in the NHS.
The people I work with often have common mental health issues such as anxiety and low mood, difficulties with identity and trauma experiences.
I have always had an interest in neurodevelopmental differences and the effects of traumas, be they single event traumas, multiple or relational. I have experience of perinatal, fertility and birth problems. I have worked with people who are questioning their gender.
I have included information on this website about the main therapies I use although I do also use the concepts and principles from other therapies.
The main therapies I use are Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). I also offer a compassionate approach which can be valued by the people I work with.
